Beyond Ayia Napa is a creek where the fishermen are based. Full of little blue and white boats, complete with messy rolled nets; it has a rustic charm which feels more ‘old Cyprus’ than anything else near Ayia Napa.
Along the creek are a few nice restaurants with terraces, serving local fish and the usual array of salads, dips, chips etc. There is also a small rough beach with surprisingly white sand.
Aside lunch, the girls were crazy for a family of wild kittens begging for food. We wouldn’t let them feed them but the Germans on the next table were kinder and drew quite a rag-tag collection of felines, all competing for scraps to the delight of the children.
Granny loved the fried feta with honey and baby calamari. As ever, the girls devoured halloumi and chips with shreds of salad.
Worth a drive or there is a bus stop. They say the mornings are nice there as the fishermen unload their catches.
